Step 2

Join one REALTOR® board

In the Oklahoma City metro you pick the Edmond Board of REALTORS® or OKCMAR; in Tulsa it is the Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS®. Join one and you are automatically a member of the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® too, on one bill.

We recommend

Edmond Board of REALTORS®

Edmond lends its primary members up to 25 lockboxes free, so you never buy one for a listing.

  • Application fee · one time $100
  • Local dues · yearly $195
  • State dues · yearly $250
  • State new-member fee · one time $100
  • National dues · yearly $201
  • Joining in January $846

Dues are prorated by the month you join. Join in September and the first bill is about $445.

Quick answers

What people ask about cost

How much does it cost to get started?
About $1,458.50 with the Edmond Board, $1,499.50 with OKCMAR, or $1,608.25 with GTAR in Tulsa. That covers the first month of the course, the exam, the background check, the license, your board dues, the MLS setup and first bill, and the lockbox key app. Board dues are prorated, so starting later in the year costs less.
Which REALTOR® board should I join?
In the Oklahoma City metro you choose the Edmond Board of REALTORS® or OKCMAR. We recommend Edmond, because it lends its members up to 25 lockboxes free. At OKCMAR you buy them: $140 plus tax for each box you buy. In Tulsa, agents join the Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS®.
Do I have to join the state and national associations too?
They come with it. Join one local board and you are automatically a member of the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. Your local board bills all three dues together.
What does Homestead & Co charge me to start?
Nothing. No startup fee, and we cover the 45-hour post-license course and your yard signs, about $350–$1,020 elsewhere. Your CRM, marketing engine, listing manager and transaction management with e-signature are included too; agents who pay for those themselves spend about $100–$400 a month.

The fees in steps 1 to 3 are set by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, its testing and background-check vendors, the boards and the MLSs, not by Homestead & Co, and they change. We last checked each one on October 29, 2026 against the organization's own published page. What you pay the brokerage on each deal is on the commission page.
